![]() ![]() ![]() We are already in contact with an law firm in Mexico that will help us to solve the problem in court. Not only this is not a safe place to stay, but also the staff don’t seem to care. After we left, we found another 4 reviews (booking and trip advisor) of guests reporting very similar incidents at Mayan Monkey Hostel Tulum in the last month. Unfortunately, the only person who supposedly had both copies of the master key for the safe lockers, Yasser, instead of assisting us, NEVER SHOWED UP. He also said they could not show us the images. ![]() He told us that they checked the cameras and saw nothing suspicious. Not even the nights we had spent were reimbursed!!! The receptionist, Abdiel, said he didn’t have the authority to do anything about it. Yasser Sandoval, cowardly, never showed up (even though he had committed to do so the day before), did not leave any instructions with the front desk, and we left Mayan monkey without having received a single suitable explanation or apologies for our incident, needless to say appropriate compensation for what we were stolen. On the following day, we waited from 8am until the time of our airport shuttle (2:30pm) for the manager, Yasser, to show up and give us an official response from the hostel to what happened to us. They did not come back to us on this day. When we went back to the Hostel, Yasser informed us they would look into the hostel cameras and revert to us when possible. We spent more than 3 hours at the local police, between waiting and reporting our incident. We immediately spoke to the front desk (Abdiel AAndrade) who called the manager, Yasser Sandoval, who advised us to register the case at the local police. Behind the instruction sign (you can pull it off), was the master key entrance. Although there were no visible traces of safe break in, we noticed the instructions sign on how to set the password code was upside down. On the third day of our stay, we opened the safe box in the morning and all our money was gone. We stayed in a private room with a safe box where we kept our passports and our cash money (usd and pesos). Unfortunately, our stay at Mayan Monkey hostel was the worst experience ever. ![]() Yasser Sandoval, cowardly, never showed up (even though he had committed to do so the day before), did not leave any instructions with the front desk, and we left Mayan monkey without having received.
